| Online Education Natural history online courses with lectures posted weekly. Each course comprises eight or sixteen lectures. Lectures for each course are posted weekly with the sequence beginning the first Saturday of each month. Join a course at the beginning of any month and a new lecture will be posted for you each week for the next eight or sixteen weeks. Course subscriptions are not yet available. Animal Diversity Animal Diversity is a sixteen week survey course introducing the breadth of animals, their anatomy, physiology, development and evolutionary history. A new lecture will be posted each week, with each lecture covering one major group of animals. By far the largest portion of the series will focus on diversity of form and function, highlighting animals which typify the characteristics of the group to which they belong. Subjects considered are (1) protozoa, (2) animal origins (3) sponges, (4) anemones and jellies, (5) flatworms, (6) segmented worms, (7) molluscs, (8) crustacea, (9) spiders, (10) insects, (11) sea stars and sea urchins, (12) fishes, (13) amphibians, (14) reptiles, (15) birds, and (16) mammals. Ecology: How Sunlight Makes Fish Ecology is an eight-week course describing elementary principles of ecology describing how ecosystems work . . . using sunlight in a lake to produce fish. Designed for the non-scientist, the sequence unfolds the mysteries of atoms and light, processes of photosynthesis and respiration, nutrient transfer from one organism to another, and a description of food chains, trophic levels and food webs.
